starting on meds... - Anxiety Message Board

I went to my physician today and she directed me to a psychiatrist for medication (anxiety/depression). So I have an appointment tomarrow. I'm kind of skeptical about meds, but I've been going to therapy and it doesn't seem to be helping very much (just talking). I am almost at the point I don't do anything all day but lay in bed. Anyways, just wanted to hear some experiences with medication...this is all new to me! thanks!

I've tried lots of different meds...paxil, celexa, lexapro. xanax. I just really don't want to be on any medication. BUT, if you can't get out of bed, please find something. All of the meds have side effects and you'll have to try some to find one that works for you. After you've reached some stability in your life, you can try to come off of them. Right now, I take xanax as needed and that works for me.
