Sick after hot shower?

I am wondering if anyone has this - after I take a hot shower I tend to feel really sick and flushed for at least an hour. I don't know if it is anxiety or if it might be caused by another problem. My skin also gets really really red like I am sunburned(the showers I take are hot but not that hot!).

Re: Sick after hot shower?

Is it stupid to say....stop having hot showers??!! lol

I have hot showers as well and of course it makes me go bright red and ups my body temperature. My pulse gets really strong as well and it makes me feel a bit dizzy, nothing major though. People said they arent good for you so i stopped.

You probably stay like it for a an hour or so while your body cools back down to normal.

I wouldnt have thought it was to do with anxiety.

Good luck with the cold showers!

Re: Sick after hot shower?

the heat and the water pressure are pretty much designed to boost your energy and get the blood pumping and if you're already feeling anxious beforehand then it can tip you over the edge

try turning it down a little or having baths instead?

Re: Sick after hot shower?

If I take a really hot bath I too get sorta nauseated and sick feeling! I never heard of that before - now I feel better that I'm not the only one! However, I can't tell you what it is, just that someone else out here experiences the same thing!

Re: Sick after hot shower?

I am glad to find out that other people haev the same problems as well. Sometimes I really feel like I am going crazy I remember reading that people with Multiple Sclerosis have problems after hot showers so I want to make sure that I am not the only one having the hot shower problem! I am wondering if it all has to do with anxiety somehow!

Re: Sick after hot shower?

I have problems with hot showers too sometimes. What I've learned is that all that hot water seems to do 2 things: First, it can raise your blood pressure, pulse rate, and breathing rate which can make you feel anxious and dizzy. Second, hot water seems to hyperstimulate the immune system. It can bring about flu like feelings which make you feel sick, feverish, tired, and weak.

A lot of people can get ill from hot showers, baths, or hot tubs. The best thing to do if you must absolutely use really hot water is to never leave that tub that way. Always run the water cold for the last few minutes because it can help counter all those ill effects...it works for me.
