| Re: What Are Your Ways To Relieve Everyday Anxiety?
Hi Melanie, I'll give you alittle info. on me so you can understand where I'm coming from.
My anxiety started suddently one day in 1999. I was taking lunch one afternoon and suddenly felt my heart begin to race and I had a feeling of impending doom. This occurred pretty regularly for weeks - I feared sleeping and hated being alone. Medication was never an option for me. I had friends who became dependent on medication. And no matter what anyone says anxiety is ALL IN YOUR HEAD. I started carrying water and crackers with me. When I felt the anxiety creep up I took a sip of my water and ate a cracker. It did help but what helped most was self control. STAY CALM do not let the anxiety get the best of you. Everyone gets nervous now and then that's normal BUT do NOT let it take control of you. Find things to do to keep you occupied (reading, coloring etc.) and think of things that make you happy. Chamomile Tea helps me to relax, it actually makes me so comfortable and calm. Try it!
I am now 26 and I just gave birth to my first child. Imagine that - I used to get anxiety thinking about the whole labor process but I did it. I think that helped make me stronger too.
Just remember anxiety is all in your head. You control it - don't let it control you.
Good luck -
