It's been 2 weeks that I've been on Zoloft -- went from 25 to 50 mg last Sunday. I feel about 10% better. How long does it usually take to start feeling the therapuetic effects? The reason I ask is because when I went on Effexor XR a while back and I felt better almost immediately. It just seems like this is taking longer. I haven't had hardly any side effects from this and I'm just crossing my fingers that this will kick in soon!
hi
they can take about a month sometimes a bit longer for the full effect.
If I were you in about a week if your not feeling even better then see what your doctor has to say.
Hi, unfortunately 4 to 6 weeks is the norm. Hang in there. If you're already feeling 10% better, then imagine what it will feel like a couple of weeks from now.
Good luck,
Meg
Gee,
My pharmacist said: thirty to sixty days. 'Ya know with elavil, I got immediate results. Taking remeron now, the pharmacy print-out says: one to four weeks. Go figure!
My psychologist told me that it depends on what type of problem you have. For my OCD, Prozac took a full two months to kick in. My friend is bipolar, and her medicine only took four weeks to kick in.
Either way, it takes a while...there are no quick fixes when it comes to mental disorders, I guess.
i have been suffering from anxiety and mild depression for about a yr now and went to the doctor yesterday and he put me on effexor xr and i could tell a diff in my thought patterns and mood almost over night .... i woke up this morning after only 1 dose and I felt almost like i had an alcohol hangover kinda disoriented...
I have been taking Xanax for about 4 months on and off for anxiety. Just recently my anxieties went to a completely different level. I saw my doctor on Monday and she has added Zoloft along with the Xanax. It has only been two days and I am not seeing much of a difference. The Xanax does not cut it so I hope within the next couple of weeks I do start seeing a difference with the Zoloft. I guess I just wanted to say I completely understand what all of you are going through. We want really quit results and I guess there just aren't any. Let's all hang in there!
