I was given this while I was in the hospital for an operation.. it really relieved any anxiety that I had. Hope it works well for you too.

I take 150mg of Vistaril every night before I go to bed. My main problem was insomnia and it has helped greatly. I don't feel hung over the next morning which is a big plus for me.
I was ok with taking it as my son was prescribed Atarax for a scratching/itching problem when he was a year old. I saw that it calmed him so much without "drugging" him that my fear of it was over by the time I was put on it.
One good thing for me also was that it helped me establish a nightime routine. I can now miss a night of Vistaril and be fine with it. I have been on it a year now so I guess that would mean that I am not addicted.
My new doctor gave me a prescription for it.
Any thoughts or opinions?

I have been taking it to help get my appetite back and for anxiety. I sure helps with the appetite and really helps when I take it with my Xanax. I take small dose of Xanax about a half hour or so later or before. I have had horrible panic attacks again and am trying to find an SSRI or something to help, but I may just get some more Vistaril to help for now. ? I need something though to buffer stimuli. I am ultra sensitive. Oh, and I got it at the ER too, for severe nausea and ended up having a severe panic attack out of fear of not knowing what was going on. So they gave me one of the Vistaril's even with my Xanax, so I was impressed....and no side effects.
