I haven't flown in about 5 years and i am flying next week....I am not crazy about it but i have to do it. I take .25mg of Xanax on occassion....(not very often)....My dr. said i should take two .25mg half hour before the flight. Anyone do this before a flight. I am thinking about it. I've been taking xanax now and again for the big attacks. I took one an hour before flying yesterday and slept through the whole flight. I'm not particularly afraid of flying or anything, but it was a great nap.

I would also take more xanax tablets with you on the flight just in case....
you probably wont need them but its very reassuring to know you have them
remember to breathe deep and slow as this always calms you, keep looking at the other peoples faces and eyes
I will definitely take more with me (just in case).....It is a 3 hour flight so I will take two .25mg. an hour before i board.....I have never taken two at once, usually i take just one. But i am sure two will help to take the edge off........Thank Goodness it is a short flight........bride527
I too use to be afraid, I took zanaz for flying, that along with psycologist, and religion, I am now completley over flying. If only everything else would fall into place.

What do you need to fall into place..surely if you can fly which is a major, wouldnt things be a little easier ? Just wondering as I havent flown for awhile. agorophobia ( so dont like being closed in ) I guess if I had to I could do it.

I just returned from my vacation, had a fantastic time. I took my xanax for the flight down and also for the return flight. It was a breeze.......I actually enjoyed the flight. It just took the edge off and i was actually able to enjoy it........bride527
Zanax is great for flying. I almost had to reduce my function in my job, but Zanax allowed me to continue on the biz trips 19,000 skymiles in the second half of last year. It is great. And best of all, a couple of hours after the trip, it seems as if it is all out of your system (untill you try to have a cocktail.) Have a good flight.
I have a cruise comming up next year,should I do the same I am on klonopin already and I don't think my doc would give me anything for a trip aniexty.I think I could surviv a flight if I have to but it is goingto be a 5 day cruise,what am I going to do?
I wouldn't take XANAX on a cruise, unless you don't plan on drinking alcohol at all.....I would never take a xanax and then drink.
It worked fine for me for the flight cuz i took the pill and didn't drink anything with it......I didn't have any anxiety on my trip at all, probably because i wasn't worrying about the flight home.
