i head if you crush a pill into powder, then injest it with water, it gets absorbed quicker or 'better' , is this true at all with any type of meds? thanks guys

this is called water titrating. it is mostly used for tapering off low doses of benzodiazepines (xanax, klonopin, valium, ativan etc.). i never heard of it being used for other drugs but i am not sure. some drugs that come in capsules cannnot be used and some are not solvable in water.

Before you crush you meds check with your pharmacist. I am thinking it might be possible to change the components of the meds if you crush them..meaning that the med might have the attended effect. Better to be safe than sorry

this will happen more often than not with the medicines with that sustained release action.. or the 24 hour pills.. like xanax xr...

even medicine like effexor xr you can take out of the capsule and sprinkle on soft food or in applesauce.

its always good to check with a doctor, but there are a lot of different ways you can adminster medicine, and it a lot of different vehicles..

most probably don't realize that most medicine can be administered rectally if someone is vomiting and unable to keep the medicine down.
