It took me awhile to get to that dose.

I've been on it for quite some time now.

What happened with me was I still had this anxiety even though I felt calm. I just hadn't titrated to the proper dose.

I started to experiment (with my Dr.'s approval) upping the dose of the medicine past the 2mg I was taking. One day I had an unusually large amount of panic and anxiety, so I took another 1mg dose for a total of 3mg. I felt almost like I had reached that right level.

I continued to titrate higher until I reached 4mg. I can't tell you how much better I feel on it. I have absolutely no anxiety. Literally, none. It's kind of crazy.

The reason I titrated higher was because even the makers of Xanax studied it at 6mg per day... The maximum approved amount is 10mg per day.. So I figured the 1.5mg-2mg was too low (for me). My Dr. agreed.

Some people do fine lower. I didn't.

I don't really know how to explain what it felt like once I reached the 4mg dose... almost like I signed a new lease and got a 2nd chance.

I have the XR and regular tabs. If I'm not going to be around my medicine I'll take 2mg of the XR and leave for the day, and come home and take 2mg of the regular version.

Usually I take the regular version... but either of them work for me. I like the XR as it seems smoother (less ups and downs) but the regular version is dirt cheap.

I was drowsy for a week titrating my dose higher, but after that week... man, I was a new person.
