Premenopause increases anxiety?

Hi to all ladies of a "certain age" - I'm 42

I definitely am in premenopause (the 10-or-so years before menopause) and I've found that anxiety (that's been with me seen pre-teens) seems worse. So does feeling depressed and irritable.

I've read that premenopause can increase anxiety/depression.

I've been seeing a naturopath for years and she's helped with a number of issues, but hasn't been able to lessen the anxiety or this hormonal roller coaster.

Can anyone relate?

Re: Premenopause increases anxiety?

I'm right there with you. I'm also that "certain age" (46) and was never bothered by anxiety until last August. I am almost positive it is related to the change in hormones and it's not fun. What I wouldn't give to be my old self again.

Re: Premenopause increases anxiety?

I have the same throat clearing problem and it is driving me crazy. It started when my Zoloft dose got up to 150mg. I have talked to my doctor about it and she told me to take Claritin for it. I have looked it up on the internet and it says to drink water to help it. I guess it is a drainage. My doctor said some meds that is a side effect. She never heard of Zoloft having that side effect but I know this clearing problem is really irritating for me. I also have this feeling like I have a lump in my throat. I plan on going back to a diffrent doctor next week to get checked to see if he can help. Hope this helps.
