Also I was mowing grass today one of my cars was in the way and I just got so angery! I went off. And it isn't easy for my wife when I get like this. I even blew up when she is in the way when I'am doing things. Is anxiety causeing this. I been taking buspar for about 5 months and have been able to do things I have neveer dreamed of doing. Things I wanted to do but to scared, things of everyday living.

Re: Is anxiety causing anger and blowing up?

Hello

I know for me anxiety causes me to get angry. I dont want to tell my family members that again I am scared I am going to die, so therefore I hold it in and this makes me get cranky at the smallest thing.
Its hard for our family's to deal with and unfair. The thing I have been trying to do is, say to my self, "you own this" (the anger) deal with it. It's hard but it helps. For Example, if the cars in the way, say to your self "I will just stop the mower and move the car" an extra 5 min on the job, o-well. It's better than upseting the whole family.

Also you could chat to your Dr about it, it could have something to do with your meds.. take care

Carolyn

Re: Is anxiety causing anger and blowing up?

Usually the anger is a side effect of basically being exhausted with the anxiety. You just feel so keyed up and stressed (even if you don't consciously realize it) that little things set you off. There are SSRIs that may help you with that, Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, and related meds are actually sometimes prescribed to people with anger problems. So if it is becoming an increasing problem, I'd talk to your doc about it. There are meds that can help the anxiety AND this, which really is probably related to anxiety. I know I can snap and get easily exhausted when I'm worried about something or having lots of panic attacks. I once stormed off a job after a week of panic attacks----someone was being very rude and just set me off (and I'm a pretty laid back person). So you're not alone, but don't let this problem go on, after all, you don't want to take out your anxiety/anger issues on your wife, you need her in your corner. Take care.

Re: Is anxiety causing anger and blowing up?

I have gone from laughing and being happy with my kids to throwing a tantrum if I missed the trash with a piece of paper. Yes I believe it is anxiety causing it. When I get like that and I dont calm down right away i take my xanax and feel much better. I hate to medicate myself but I cant live that way and neither can my family. Have you mentioned these episodes to your Dr? if not you need to. I take antidepressants and they dont help with these things. I needed something to take in the even of an anxiety related episode. I dont take xanax if I am having a good day only when things seem hopeless or out of control or I am just overwhelmed. Or if my burger sticks to the grill and I rip the tin foil. Not laughing at you at all I can completely relate. My husband has looked at me at times and said what the heck just happened? I can only say I dont know and take a pill. it sounds bad but what else can I do. I am never a zombie I am a great mom so i figure if I need meds to help so what at least i am happy and living life the best i can with the meds.

Hope I helped a bit.
