is this anxiety???? - Anxiety Message Board

my partner of seven years has started to concern me and i think he may have some anxiety problems although iam not convinced
he recently lost someone he looked up to in a tragic accident and whilst at first he grieved he soon bottled everything up
now hes complaining of being unable to concerntrate hes thinking of death a lot and is scared of dying
he has heart palpitations and says he can feel his heartbeat through his eyelids and in his head thisis stopping him from sleeping and concerning him
does this sound like anxiety or is this normal after losing someone in tragic circumstances (his friend was young and leaves two children and a wife)
i appreciate a doctor would be the best person to consult
to start with i was convinced he was having some kind of anxiety/panic attack but having had time to think it through am now not so sure i think maybe this is another way of the grief coming out, maybe even guilt at not going to his funeral
we also have two children and i wonder if due to this hes worrying overly about himself and us because of his friends untimely death
any opinions or advice would be much appreciated

Sounds like anxiety to me.Alot of people say their anxiety started after the death of a loved one.This may and hopefully will pass.Maybe you should encourage your husband to go speak to someone about all this.

Sorry for your loss. I think you do need more time though because everything will still be so intertwined with grief at this stage. Give him time to grieve, comfort him and if things dont settle down suggest he talk to someone, i know it can be very hard to grieve properly without going to the funeral so maybe even ring a counselling service or church in your area for advice of how you can help him, might even be good to suggest he do something symbolic for his friend as a way of letting go and saying goodbye.
