Best med? Help

I suffer from anxiety! My gyno says to take Lexapro (which make me hungry and I'm afraid I will gain another 30 lbs like I did on Celexa). Prozac doesn't really help with anxiety. Zoloft make me more anxious.

Cymbalta gave me terrible hearburn.

What about Effexor? I know the horror stories about withdrawl, but would it be a good choice?

I need to find something that wouldn't make me gain weight and take away my sex drive.

Any suggestions?

Maybe Effexor and Wellbutrin?

Re: Best med? Help

There is no best medication. You have to try one, two, perhaps more, to find what works for YOU. If you look around the internet, you will find horror stories about all these meds. Some people will blame everything from nausea to kicking their cat on a medication. The most common medications in use today, the SSRIs (like Zoloft, Paxil, Prozac, etc.) and SNRIs (like Effexor, etc.) share the distinction of all being very capable of hurting one's sex life. It isn't always the case, but it is a very common side effect. Some docs add on another med like Wellbutrin to try and counteract the sexual side effects. I've seen some people swear that their 40 lb. weight gain was from Zoloft and I've seen another person swear that Zoloft decreased their appetite. The same is true with all these meds. It's a trial and error sort of thing. I went through quite a few meds trying to find the right one, and even then, over time, I still had to change meds. So remember, no matter what my experience or anyone else's experience has been, noone can predict how a med will work for YOU, and you usually will have to put up with some side effects if you're going to find a med that works. They all have side effects and these will be experienced at varying degrees by different people, and many side effects with these drugs go away after a month or so, so remember to give the med time. That said, while I take meds, I don't like many of them, and I don't necessarily think they work as well as was claimed when they first came out years ago (but then again nothing does, right?). Take care and good luck.
