Medications work differently on different people. You may have to try a few to get one that works for you. For me, xanax has been a miracle drug. However, now I'm having a hard time getting any more since doctors don't seem to like to prescribe it. I won't take SSRIs, but you will find many people on this board that do that have had great results with them. Good luck!
I agree, a benzo is great for anxiety, but hard to get .
I'm taking Paxil, only 10mg it's working ok for me, but I also have Librax, which is for my IBS, but it's a spasmodic with just a hint of librium in it, I take it as needed.
I just started on meds and am on the generic form of zoloft and generic form of ativan. So far they seem to be working the way they should. I only take the ativan when needed so I have only had 1.5 pills in over a week so it really isn't needed often, for me anyway.
I was on Lexapro for a few months and it did it's job. I had no side effects other than slight weight gain and drowsiness. Everyone responds to drugs differently. But the Lexapro was too strong for me so they took me off grandually. I took that with a 1/2 of a .05 klonopin at night. I stayed on the klonopin for a while and am now on my 4th day of Celexa.
