Does Klonopin kick in fast like Xanax or does it take a while before it gets into your system like Lexapro (2-4 weeks)? I am going for an MRI tomorrow and I need something to relax me. My MD gave me Klonopin after 3 Xanax failed to work for me. I just want to make sure this RX will work for me being that this is my second attempt at this MRI thing.
Oh yes Klonopin is fast acting it is a benzodiazepines.Google klonopin if ya want lots of info.I took this med twice a day for two years. The very first klonopin I ever took it was maybe 10 to 15 minutes later and I felt the effects. The first pill or two I felt a tad loopy like BUT not to fear because I felt tons better! After that no more loopy. The only downfall I had with this med was some fatigue but I just got used to that and still did all my daily things.I hope it works as good for you! oh a tip for ya if you let the pill dissolve under your tongue (doesnt taste good but helps lol) it may work even faster when needed.
Yes, I feel better within 10-30 minutes. It's fast-acting, but the effects don't last very long, only a few hours or so. That's the difference between a benzo and an SSRI (like Lexapro): SSRI's take awhile to kick in, but they work continuously, thereafter.

Thank you both for your replys. I feel better now. I just want to get through this MRI tomorrow, and I was afraid that it was not going to kick in fast enough for me.Can I ask what dose you each took? Also is it stronger then Xanax? Thanks again
I don't know if Klonopin is stronger than Xanax. They're the same type of medication, so I wouldn't think so... I have two different dosages: 0.5 mg and 0.125 wafers. The 0.5 mg ones are the ones that knock me out.
