Has anyone else experienced a ringing sensation in their ears due to anxiety? I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder coupled with Panic attacks in May of 2006. I am currently on Lexapro and a very small nightly dose of Klonopin. The majority of my anxiety and panic related symptoms have disappeared, but I am still easily startled by things like ringing telephones and doors at my office being opened and shut nearby. I also have a constant mild ringing in my ears. I am so easily startled due to this "super hearing" that it is silly.
I've always have the ringing in my ears, but I find that it has gotten much worse around the time I was diagnosed with anxiety and started meds. Weird!
yes, i have ringing in both ears constantly, plus mild "rocking" vertigo - its chronic. i have had every test u can name, and i am told by dr's its anxiety (not an inner ear disorder).
I have ringing in my ears also but don't even notice it anymore unless it's very quiet. Not sure if it's anxiety related for me but I wouldn't doubt it!
I too get that. I just thought it was something floating through. It passes within minutes, hours or a day. BUT it is very annoying. I never thought it was anxiety related, but now that I think of it, it happens when I am slightly anxious. So, yes, I think that it can happen due to anxiety. Weird, huh?
Thanks for the posts guys. Here is an update on my situation. I discussed the ringing in my ears with my doctor. It was noted that I first noticed the ringing when my Lexapro dosage was increased from 10mg daily to 20mg per day. We have since reduced the dosage back down to 10mg per day. After 2weeks on the reduced dosage, the ringing is nearly gone. It appears that in my case, the ringing or tinnitus was a side affect of an increased dosage of Lexapro.
