Another test.... - Anxiety Message Board

I had been waiting for a month for my cardiologist to get approval from my insurance to do a cardiac ct scan. Well yesterday they got the approval but I still have yet to get my results from the holter or echo I had several weeks ago. I'm scared of the ct scan as I'm phobic of small tight places. Has anyone had this test and what does it involve? Maybe I should have posted this on the heart board but this test is directly related to my health anxiety and I know many of you have had a lot of cardiac testing.

I haven't had a cardiac CT (I would really like to - but I guess I really don't need one) but I have had plenty of MRIs. I have no problems in tight spaces, so I usually fall asleep. But I know they do give people valium, etc. if you can't do it. I don't know if they would do that for the cardiac CT, but you can ask them if there is anything they can give you. If you already have a benzo such as xanax you could probably just take that.

I was also wondering about the dye they give you through IV and whether or not they make you take a drug to slow your heart down? This is what I read. I was wondering how that part is? Also, I researched a bit and found that Thallium stress tests are more accurate at detecting heart problems than the CT Scan......anyone know of this? I'm just really nervous about the CT test.
