| Re: A drug that helps with anxiety and cognitive impairment?
Benzodiazapines are anti-anxiety meds. This family of medication is probably the best soution for long term anxiety and panic related issues. If you read up on Klonopin and Xanax, you will find on this forumn alone a huge amount of people who have had success with either of these drugs. I would suggest you consider that. Also, beware, anti-depressants are known for their horrible side effects while Benzo's have little to none if used as a long term solution. I take 2 mg of Xanax a day and it has completely eliminated my anxiety. I have no panic attacks and very little anxiety of any sort at all. I noticed some drwosiness when I first started taking it and then anytime you increase dosage you will feel a little drowsy, but after a few days the drowsiness dissipates and you feel normal again. However, when considering the long term use of these drugs you have to understand that you will experience withdrawl when and if you quit taking them. This can be severe if not slowly tapered off slowly over a long period of time. Most drugs have a similar effect, but Benzos can be particularly hard to kick. I have struggled with anxiety for 20 years now, so I can live with taking one drug for the rest of my life. That is the decision that needs to be made and then you have to find a doctor who will prescribe it to you as a long term solution.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
