I have anxiety and panic and am taking 50 mg of zoloft. I have been on it about 2 weeks and don't feel any different. I do feel happier but still anxious and panicky in social situations and still get the horrible dizzy feeling in public. I thought I would be feeling better by now. I took zoloft before (same dosage) for about 3 years but have been off of it about 3 years. It really helped me the first time but it seemed to work within a few days the first time. I don't want to up the dosage since I tried 100mg last time and I felt like a zombie. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi, in some it can take 4-6 weeks and a persons reaction each time a med is taken can vary with time.Try not to put forth 100% faith in medicine alone,try to meet it half way with coping skills,relaxation,breathing exercise ect...especially during the anxious periods and you will see a greater change in its effect and change takes time with anxiety as I'm sure you know.Have you tried cognative thearpy, if not it may help along with the meds

Have you spoken to your doctor about how you are feeling? I take zoloft but I started at 100 mg and when I get really stress on my doctor's directions I increase it to 150mg.

Definitely let your doctor know. He or she may up your dosage or prescribed a medication in addition to the Zoloft such as xanax or something. When I was taking Zoloft, my doc also prescribed me xanax for the sudden panic attacks.

Definitely add some low dose xanax. I started with .25 then increased to .5 as needed. Depending on your level of anxiety you may need a higher dose. Side effects can be tiredness but it is a great med for anxiety. Can be habit forming but in people with anxiety I believe there is a low chance of dependency than those that take it just for the "feeling".
