valium question - Anxiety Message Board

Can anyone please tell me if after 3 weeks of taking 5-10 mgs of valium basically every day(except for 2),I can just stop now?? I feel like I no longer need it but I have heard stories that say I need to taper first.My pharmacist says I can just stop but may feel uneasy for acouple of days or may feel fine.I currently take Lexapro(15mg's) and Neurontin and would like to eliminate the valium.Thanks to all.By the way,I am a 59 year old male with GAD,but doing much better lately.

i take valium all the time and i just stop when i dont need it. i never had a problem. if you are still nervous then just take 1/2 mg for a couple days first but you will be fine!!

You can just stop. Especially if your pharmst told you it was fine and because you are on other meds.

I have been taking valium for many years off and on. I take it when I need it. Sometimes months go by without me taking it. Valium has saved my life many times. Without it, I wouldn't be here today. When I feel bad, I take up to 15-20 mg/day. The next day I may take nothing. I've never had any problems to just stop taking it.
