As you state, the problem is how you are thinking about these things - including how you are thinking about yourself. You say you know you are not a bad person and as true as that may be, there is obviously still some part of you that thinks otherwise. There is probably many thought patterns hiding in your mind which are not realistic and can be causing your anxiety. Do a net search on cognitive behavior therapy and rational emotive therapy. There is some good free information on the net and some good books available.
