Hi everyone, I have been on elavil 25mg for sleep for over 4 years and was prescribed by my family doctor, it was the only help for my chronic insomnia and headaches, 3 years ago I started going to a Mental Health Center for my depression/anxiety and began CBT, after a year of that not helping my p-doc put me on Klonopin for my anxiety and it was a BIG help and since then I have took it as needed,not as prescribed, a month supply would last me over 3-4 months and she was happy it was working and that I was not abusing it.On my last visit with my p-doc she prescribed me Prozac for my depression, she has also tried me on others over a year or so and said she was leaving the center to start her own private office upstate and she referred me to another doctor in the clinic to see how I was on the Prozac, so I began the Prozac and it did seem to help my depression but after 3 weeks I started having bad heart palps along with hives that come and go and saw my regular family doctor for the palps and had to wear a holter, the results come back fine other than pvc's and he said the cause could be a med I'm taking, smoking, caffeine and a hundred other things and not to worry, so I cut back on smoking and all caffeine as well as sweets and still had them.Well today I had a appt with my "new" p-doc and told her I think the Prozac may be causing my heart palps and the recurring hives along with what my family doctor told me and she said QUIT all your meds and I explained I had no trouble till I started the Prozac and the elavil was the only thing that helps me sleep as well as the klonopin for my severe anxiety????? She got louder and said quit them all for 5 weeks and see me then, we need to find out which med is causing the reaction?? I just could not get through her hard skull that I was fine before the Prozac other than major depression.I hope this is not too confusing,I'm a bit ticked off at the moment and need to vent
