Today I started taking Zoloft for anxiety and depression.

I went to the doctors this morning and I had a slight fever (99.2).

I took my first dose of Zoloft ever when I got home. About an hour or so later I started feeling really sick. Over the next hour it got so bad that every time i moved I thought I was going to vomit. Then I got diarrhea twice, and I think it's not over.

Does this sound like it could be because of the medication, or am I just sick?

My themometer at home does not work so I can not take my temperature

Re: Today I started taking Zoloft for anxiety and depression.

I have tried this med a few times in the past. First time, no side effects whatsoever and I was on it a year. Second time, zoloft made me horribly ill and I stopped after 3 days. My symptoms were like you described. Maybe with time they would have subsided but it was so bad I could not work so I had to stop. Weird, I know. Maybe if you stick it out they will lessen

As you seemed to have has a raised slightly temperature before you went to Docs, id say it wasnt the meds, more like a virus of some sort. drink plenty of fluids, see how you go , if no better in 3 days or so go back to Doc

Re: Today I started taking Zoloft for anxiety and depression.

I think you may have a bug. . . it is too early to have any of the symptoms. . . I have been on zoloft for a couple of months now and it has really helped with my OCD and GAD. . . Alot of people have anxiety about taking meds and that can make them think they are having the side effects. . . . when are you taking your meds??? I take mine at 5 every night with a snack and a large glass of water (if I am not having dinner till later that night, if I am having dinner then I will take it with dinner). . . you should try and eat when you take zoloft. . . drink plenty of water and get some sleep

Re: Today I started taking Zoloft for anxiety and depression.

I'm going to try it with food this morning... I still feel sick, so I'm thinking I must be sick. Either way, I'm nervous about it.. I don't want to be that sick again!
