Red face Have you ever had anxiety/panic attacks that lasted for days?

Hi everyone

For the last 4 days, I have been having really bad and SUSTAINED anxiety and even a few panic attacks over a traumatic event that ocurred the other day and my subsequent fears and issues surrounding it. Here is what I've been experiencing (symptoms)...

* Major (and very frightening) adrenalin "surges".
* Constricted throat feeling and swallowing a lot.
* Feels like my breathing is "off" or I'm being smothered.
* Head feels foggy/spacy/weird.
* Fast heart beat.
* Feeling like I'm going to go insane or die (mostly during panic attacks).

I have been taking Ativan and Atenolol when it really gets bad but sometimes that doesn't even work too good. What are you people taking and what works for you?. I'm desperate to get some relief and the only thing I have found so far is beer and I can't stay drunk forever!.

Steve

Re: Have you ever had anxiety/panic attacks that lasted for days?

Steven,

My anxiety attacks are daily, and can last for hours. But what ive noticed is that they peak. It comes on and gets progressively worse over a period of about half an hour, then seems to tail off somewhat. But because im having them so regularly now, it all seems to be rolling into one long anxiety attack, its horrible. Im taking Prozac which doesnt seem to be working that well (6 weeks into it now) and having CBT therapy which is early stages, so im struggling still, but hope to get over this one of these days

Go talk to the Doctor about whether your medication is correct.
