I have been asleep last night and all of a sudden after two hours of sleeping I woke up terrified and ready to cry and the room was dark so I wasn't sure where I am at first and whose room I am sleeping in (even though it was my own room) so after that I realized that I am still somewhat asleep and do not feel fully awake. I have felt so-ooo scared, the same feeling you get when having a nightmare except I did not have any nightmare I was just gasping for air and felt very scared because I was confused over where I was! Did that every happen to anyone? I dont' have the answers to this... Please help me!
i often wake up gasping for air and also i must be half asleep because i cant swallow i have to wake right up to swallow. i will mention it to my Doctor next time i go, i think its sleep apnea of some sort. look for a book on the subject see what you can find on the subject, see if you have same symptoms. Then i would see the Doctor and tell him/her your worries and something can be doen about why you are having such a disturbed sleep im sure. Good luck.

Me too they think its a panic disorder, apnea, or a combination. I had a sleep study, but could not sleep much at all, so I imagine it will have to be repeated, keep me updated!
