Can anxiety/panic cause physical stomach pains?

For a long time now i been have some pains in my stomach. Usually right after I eat a Big meal. I will start to feel a painfull/uncomfortable full feeling that starts getting worse and ends up making my upper back sore. This usually lasts about a couple hours. But this doesn't always happen after I eat, just sometimes.

So I was just wondering if Anxiety can do this to some people.

Re: Can anxiety/panic cause physical stomach pains?

hey. i get this same thing. extreme stomach pains after i eat sometimes. but i also feel slightly nervous when im getting these pains. it's so weird because i dont even have to eat a huge meal but it feels like i have eaten a TON of food. ive lost 12 pounds in the past 3 weeks because of those feelings. im going through a major life change and i think my GAD has kicked in and it makes me not want to eat for fear of those stomach pains.

does yours just feel like you're going to throw up and possibly have to go to the bathroom??

Re: Can anxiety/panic cause physical stomach pains?

Hi, thx for the replies

If the pain is real real bad I will feel nauseated. But most of the time i just get this painfull "full" feeling. Sometimes it gets to a point where its painfull to breath. I tried taking antiacid chewable tablets and pepto-bismo, but they didn't help at all. I'm also starting to eat a lot less now, scared of the pain getting worse. I'm not sure if this has something to do with being nervous while eating or something sinister is going on with my stomach.
