Question finding the right psychotherapist/psychiatrist

i live in NJ and suffer anxiety and depression. if you can't recommend a specific docs on here? where could i find some reviews/ratings? do they have sites for that? i dont trust the simple directory listings. they dont provide much info. any advice appreciated, TIA

Holly, I think your best bet would be to see your family doctor and ask for a recommendation. Family doctors often know who many of their patients are seeing and whether or not things are going well for them.

That's what I did once, so it's worth a try at least. You may not be sure of where to start, but starting is all you need to do to get this ball rolling. If you aren't happy with your first choice, move on to the next and so on.

The key is to not get discouraged.

I don't know what part of NJ you are from but I am from South Jersey and I saw a really good psycologist a few years back. His name is Dr. Ron Newman. He was very good and helped me alot. Unfortunalty my insurance didn't cover him so I had to pay out of pocket.
If you have insurance you can contact them to find out who is in your network.
