Been prescribed 5mg Valium. Will it make me feel Sleepy - Anxiety Message Board

I suffer from Dental Phobia. Have been prescribed 5mg Valium,to relax me.

Will i feel really sleepy ? Don't want to feel sleepy at all

Issy,

You wont feel out of control sleepy, in fact not sleepy at all. All i felt when i first took a 5mg Valium was a little bit slow, like when you turn your head real quick and your eyes are left behind !!

You will be fine, it will relax you, although im not sure if enough if you have a bad phobia. It's actually a pleasant feeling, you feel calm, but dont enjoy it too much you may well want another one

Ask your Doctor to give you two, and try one on a night your at home doing nothing. That way you will know what to expect.

You will be fine.

It made me very sleepy, but I may have been on a larger dose. I can't remember.

i suppose it affects different people in different ways, at first it made me feel quite strange but not out of control strange. Then the last time i took one it didnt make any difference to my anxiety at all !!

as i said try one at home first, just to get a feel of how it will affect you. Then you will know, but really its a nice feeling not a horrible one.

The Dentist is giving it to me at the Surgery (have to get there 1 hour before my Appointment). Coz she wants to see how it affects me

Just really scared it'll affect my ability to control myself !

Also i'm quite small, 5foot3inches & weigh 8 stone
