Help! CanNOT stay awake on xanax - Anxiety Message Board

My Dr. prescribed .75mg of xanax every 4 hours as needed. It does help--a little bit, but not much?---but anyway, I literally start falling asleep at my desk and that is not good. Will I eventually get used to it and not fall asleep at the drop of a hat? Or am I doomed? I take paxil also...but have never had any bad side effects from it.

that dose is quite high to start with, try taking a smaller dose and building it up over time.

Xanax is usualy taken three times a day, every 4 hours is an unusual dosing schedual, maybe tell your doctor that it is knocking you round, and see what he suggests

I only take 1/4 mg. twice a day. If I were you, I'd cut the dose and see if that helps.

I agree, I take 0.5 and half them twice a day, wow that dose is high every 4 hours. Take half twice a day or if you need it than 3 would be max.
