MRI - Xanax or Valium??

Hi All! I have an MRI tomorrow. Of course, I am claustrophobic. I generally take xanax to get me through, but I have read so many people who take Valium for the MRI. Any thoughts or advice on which to take? The radiology office said the MRI is open, but her description of the machine sounded more like an oversized tube. I really need to get through this as I most likely have a c6/c7 herniated disc in my neck.

Thanks for reading and helping!

Re: MRI - Xanax or Valium??

I have had 2 MRI's and the first time I took .25 mg of xanax. It was enough. The second time I didn't take anything and got through it just fine. Good luck. For me it wasn't too anxiety provoking.
