i have lay awake worrying about things which have lead to me taking ages to fall asleep. this happens if i am worrying about something that will happen the next day i.e. class presentation. i don't experience it all the time like yourself. i do experience anxiety but i have the reverse. i mostly tend to feel tired rather than restless and awake.
i suggest excerising before you go to your bed as that would tire you out and make you have a better sleep. sorry i can't help to a better extent.
