Ive just registered after reading some of the threads on here. I hope you will be able to give me some advice to help my daughter through some of your own experiences.
My daughter is 12 years old and suffering from anxiety. We thought at first it was just connected to school as she begun to refuse to go. She has only attended 3 days since Christmas.Lately though it has crept into every day life. She doesnt want to go anywhere. Shes a mad keen footballer who plays for a girls team and lately shes finding every excuse not to play although she loves it. Every day she feels sick and has a headache. She worries about EVERYTHING. She needs to know the plans for every day down to the smallest details and panics if things change.
We are absolutely sure there are no specific problems at school. She has a great circle of friends, Definitely no bullying, doesnt struggle with the work (Shes very bright) and has a good rapore with her teachers. We talk a lot and I know she would tell me if there were a problem with school and we have had constant contact with the school and they are sure too.
She has had 3 major panic attacks which are very scary but they seem to occur not before she is going anywhere but in the evening when shes very relaxed. I dont understand and was hoping someone here could maybe help me to undestand how shes feeling.
We are seeing a psychiatrist regularly but my daughter is not responding very well. Shes very dismissive of every suggestion of help.
