My anxiety was different form yours, but I was on meds for a while and am now off them.
I am still anxious, but I have other tools to deal with it. I would suggest that you see a therapist who can work with you on a plan to manage your thoughts and deal with the anxiety.
Remember that you are a strong person, you have dealt with a lot already. There are behavioral strategies that you can use to manage your anxiety that can help as well as meds. Look into these.
