Smile Looking for anxiety help. My Story!!

Well i was working for a company, that i cant mention, that worked me day till night. had a new baby on the way, winter bills were piling up, and driving home one night it just blew up. it was snowing so hard i could barely see the road and then i felt like i was going to faint and leaned to the side like i was having a heart attack i was a smoker up until that day. I've quit drinking coffee, and didn't drink beer for a long time. i felt like i was going to die and felt like that for a very long time still to this day .

I went to the doctor had blood work done for diabeties and other things, anyways i finally went to another doctor for a second opinion and he checked me over and asked if i was stressed i said i don't know how to distinguish the difference, and long story short he prescribed diazepam started me off on 2ml three times a day then it worked for a week then stopped working then he up it to 5 ml and worked for a couple weeks then stopped working then i called in for a refill and got the 2 ml again and just is not working im tired all the time i cannot return to my usual activities i always have chest pain and tension, not hungry cant play with my kids, hard for me to work, neck is always sore. side cramps like ive been running a marathon.

i have really crashed hard and really trying to cope with it in my life but cant seem to shake it. my wife cries when i tell her all my problems, with what im feeling, i cry for stupid reasons it could be happy or sad like right now i just started crying talking about it. i just don't know what to do i try to do something that takes my mind of of it. i have to have a project that requires a lot of thinking and it does help but when i slow down it all comes back the pain the hurt the death thoughts. the coulda shoulda woulda stuff and then i cant wait till the night time so i can just sleep and forget about it. But then what about the next day? All i could do is try and try, do i go back to the doctor and try a new med or do i just stay with the diazepam?

Happy day to you and think POSITIVE!!

Re: Looking for anxiety help. My Story!!

Hey,

What interests me is that your doctor just prescribed medication. Is this true or did you go through therapy first?

I'm not sure about your specific situation, but it sounds like you just tried medication without any therapy. Of course you can correct me if I'm wrong.

What was even more interesting was that your wife would cry when you told her your problems. This is not a good person to talk about your problems to. Chances are she is just overwhelmed because you probably never told her your problems before and now you are exploding with all sorts of emotions she's not used to.

You should speak to a professional because they are better trained. They can help you build coping mechanisms for stress.

Physical symptoms of anxiety are hard to get past especially if you pile on MORE stress. My neck hurts now because I work at a computer all day. If I still suffered from panic attacks my neck would hurt 20x worse because of blood contrition and muscle tightness.

With anxiety you are always in a state of fear and "fight or flight". Don't you think this would cause your muscles to cramp, tighten, etc?

Anxiety requires many different treatments. Perhaps you need medication, but you should also consider therapy, diet/lifestyle changes, full nights of sleep, coping methods, etc...

I hope this helped. Please send me a message if you have any questions or just to chat.

Thanks,

George

Re: Looking for anxiety help. My Story!!

I've never tried hypnosis nor have I done and research about it, but I have heard that it works on some people. Then again, those people have only been online so I don't know how far those testimonials go.

Thanks,

George
