I need to take a 0.25mg Xanax on an upcoming flight as I'm scared of flying. I have a 8-hour flight coming up. I would take the Xanax at noon (no alcohol whatsoever) and then get a rental car at 8pm when we arrive. Other than possible fatigue, am I OK legally to drive?
I have heard horror stories where people have mixed Xanax and alcohol and they get arrested for DUI. As long as you don't mix it, is it correct that there won't be any so called alcohol level based on one 0.25mg use of Xanax taken 8 hours earlier?
I'm not on Xanax, but I take Klonopin. I asked my p-doc how soon after it was safe to drive, and she told me an hour. That said, I would check with your doctor, although I think you should be fine, just to give yourself reassurance, and would make sure to steer clear of alcohol on your flight.

I take XANAX 0.25 and sometimes 0.5 when i'm really anxious, like today. When i take the 0.25 it doesn't affect my driving at all, the 0.5 slows down my reflexes, but after 2 to 3 hours i'm excellent. But i never drink alcohol....you should be more than fine after 8h of having it...good trip for you!
