I have suffered with anxiety/panic attacks on and off for 15 years. I have had every symptom in the book. Not sure if what i've been experiencing lately is anxiety, but it's scaring the heck out me. I don't have a problem falling asleep, but I have been waking up in the middle of the night with racing strange thoughts and visions. It freaks me out because I can't control them even if I focus on my breathing, count from 100 backwards. The thoughts just keep streaming in. Am I going crazy? Please help.
That's your mind just being overactive. It's overtired and needs a break. Try to control your anxiety more during the day by keeping your mind off yourself and those thoughts should go away or at least become less frequent. You're not going crazy, you need to get some sleep.
The only thing that's different with mine is that I usually have the thoughts before I fall asleep instead of when I wake up in the middle of the night. You'll be OK in no time
