Re: What's best for sleep/anxiety - remeron or trazodone ??
Neither are specific sleep/anxiety meds, they are antidepressants that cause sedation as a side effect.
The gold standard for sleep is either a benzodiazepine like Temazepam, or a "z drug" like Ambien. Ambien is ;ess habit forming than temazepam.
For anxiety, antidepressants can help, but for accute symptoms benzos also have a place.
I would try Remeron, its easy to take, one pill at bedtime aids sleep, and also is a full antidepressant dose (to get an antidepressant effect from trazodone, you need to take multiple pills throughout the day) if it works great, if not, then add on a benzo if and when needed.
