Waking up during early morning hours having an anxiety attack
Hello everyone I am new to the board and I have a few questions about anxiety. My Anxiety started a couple months ago after I had a heart attack at the age of 26 and had to have a bypass surgery done. I came home to find out that I have a blood clot in my right leg which requires another surgery in the next couple weeks. Before all of this I had no anxiety whatsoever. Now I wake up in the middle of the night with my stomach upset, vommitting, night sweats, chills and a pounding heart. It seems to be getting worse as the nights go on. I am currently taking xanax before bed but for some reason it does not seem to be working. My doctor has told me that the vommitting and nausea I feel are not apart of anxiety and I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and could give me advice on what to do. I have asked for a sleeping pill but my doctor refuses to prescribe me one because of all the other medications I am on and believes that I am just unaware that I am anxious about next surgery. This has only been going on for about 3 weeks now but because of it I have gotten maybe 2 hours of sleep a night and I feel completely drained of energy during the day. I am going to try listening to music before bed, or reading a book but other than that I am just not sure what to try.
