Unhappy Panic Attack or Allergic reaction?

Had what i thought was an allergic reaction to an unknown trigger the other night. Went to the hospital covered in hives. Once I was at the hospital i had a full blown panic attack. The ER dr said that the hives probably werent an allergic reaction but a precurser to my panic attack. So my question is, Are hives common with panic attacks? If so how can I prevent a break out if I begin to have an attack?

Re: Panic Attack or Allergic reaction?

I've never heard of hives as a symptom of panic attack.

I think you had an allergic reaction to something, and then the stress triggered a panic attack. Next time, if you break out in hives, try 50 mg of Benadryl as soon as you first notice it. (Do not drive a car after taking 50 mg of Benadryl.)

You might also want to follow up with an allergist, to see if you have any food allergies or anything.
