Re: Anxiety severe panic feels like dying
I remember when I had my first full on panic attack. I was absolutely convinced that I was either going to die or go insane. It was literally the scariest moment in my entire life and I can absolutely relate to what you are feeling. And just like you it wasn't triggered by a specific incident, I wasn't stressed out or in a scary situation, it just came on in a wave of anxiety that seemed to build out of control right?
Your fear that its too severe for just panic is understandable, but honestly everything you are describing is what a panic attack feels like when its full blown. Obviously that doesn't change the terrible experience they cause, but at least for me knowing what a panic attack is, and how I start to feel when I'm having one has gone a long way in helping me deal with them. I've found over time with awareness and techniques I've learned through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, that I can, for the most part short circuit panic attacks when I start to feel them coming on. You might also consider medication which can help lower your anxiety levels and hopefully lessen if not eliminate your frequent attacks. It sounds like this is causing you a lot of pain and I'd definitely discuss options with your doctor as soon as you can so you can start getting better!
