Any success with Lexapro? - Anxiety Message Board

Hello, I'm new to this board, but I wanted to findout if anyone has been successful with Lexapro. I've been taking Lexapro for about 5 weeks and I'm now up to 20mg, which I take at night because it makes me sleepy. I was diagnosed with GAD and depression in Oct. 2002 and it has been a long journey. I had no idea that anxiety and depression could cause so many physical symptoms. I've been dealing with anxiety dizziness since Aug. 2002. Did anyone have this symptom and when did it subside? I am also taking .5mg of Ativan first thing in the morning because of the dizziness/disoriented/blurred vision symptoms that I have in the morning. I am not sure if these symptoms are due to anxiety & depression or the Lexapro. I have definitely seen great improvements with my anxiety, dizziness, and depression since Oct. 2002, but I will be glad when this Lexapro kick in 100% and I begin to feel 100% like my old cheerful, bubbly, energetic self! I look forward to hearing some really uplifting, positive postings. I really need the encouragement! Thanks! Faith

I've heard good things about Lexapro. As all the meds effect people differently, no experience is universal, but I've been told that by taking the non-active "isomer" (mirror image molecule) out of the Celexa, leaving the active isomer the only isomer in Lexapro. Supposedly, the non-active isomer (present in Celexa but not in Lexapro) has been thought to produce many of the unwanted side effects, and that by eliminating it and simple isolating the active form (Lexapro), many of the side effects seen in Celexa are supposedly not present in Lexapro.

How is your sex drive, and ability to orgasm? These can be a problem in most of the SSRI's but clinical studies of Lexapro has proven little sexual side effects in men, and even fewer in women.

Foosh I'm doing good on Lexapro. I would not say that I'm experiencing the full benefits of this medication, but I am pleased with the limited side effects. Thanks for the information.
