Klonopin vs ativan - Anxiety Message Board

I need to know if any of you have switched from ativan to klonopin and if so, did you feel better? I have been on ativan for over 20 years on a very low dose, and it keeps me grounded, but the new dr. that saw said the klonopin is like ativan except it lasts longer. I take an ativan .5 mg 3 times a day, She said with this, I would not have to take it 3 times a day. I just need to know if you feel different while taking this med- is it calming, sedating, etc. I really need to hear about this Asap as, she wants me changing soon. I trust all of you very much and I would respect your opinions- Please if you could M

hey i have been taking klonopin the lowest dose for a while now to calm me down .. i take it when i have attack or if i feel funny ...
i take half a pill (works just as good as the full pill) in the morning then i take another half at night before bed and i am conked out ...
yes i think klonopin works very good even half a pill works good for me ..
i also have ativan i can take but i prefure klonopin..
just putting my 2 sence in ..lol

Thanks for your help, Stacy. So you find the Klonopin any better than ativan? Do you feel the same on both? I don't know why my therapist wants me to switch. I just am afraid I will be too tired and not be able to function. I need help with anxiety and calm nerves, not to sleep.
