My wife is a US citizen, I am a UK citizen and shortly we will be going thru the process of getting her a visa to come and live with me in England. The Application requires a lot of information and if you forget just one thing, they can turn you down. So its become a major source of stress in my life. Anyway, around Wednesday last week at work, I suffered what I can only describe as a panic attack. My heart started racing so fast and beating hard, to the point it almost hurt. I began to feel a little light-headed, I felt very restless... I felt as though I couldnt just sit there at my desk and had to get up and do something else. Since then, I have been suffereing similar episodes quite frequently. My heart seems to beat faster now and although its doesnt always race away, its still beating faster than it used to. I get the sensation of trapped wind at various places in my chest and abdomen, my appetite seems to have diminished a bit, I find myself having to take one deep breath every now and then, seemingly an automatic reactiont to slow my heart rate down. It feels like I have a sore throat because of this too. It started off this morning as a tickle in my throat, now it just feels a bit sore. I get hot flashes on the skin of my chest every now and then. Yesterday my arms began to tingle at times and felt a little numb, although I havent had this problem today. My mouth gets a little dry at times but this seems to disappear after half an hour or so.
I have read that these are all symptoms of stress but my mind has been working overtime as to whether its something else. Which in itself I have read is also a symptom. Right now I cant think about anything else. I am very worried and the more I think about it the worse I feel. I NEED someone to tell me its all anxiety or stress. It would be very relieving to hear from someone who has suffered these exact same symptoms all at once. I do plan on seeing my doctor this week but I am extremely nervous about it, and that doesnt seem to help me. Has anyone else ever had these symptoms and if so, did they find any ways of calming down? I just want to feel well again.
