Has anyone heard of anxiety like this - Anxiety Message Board

Last night at 1:30 in the morning I awoke feeling really spaced out. My arms and back felt really warm then a cold sensation went from my neck through my shoulders down my arms and down my back. A tingly numb sensation rushed from the center of my back through my shoulders to my bicepts. Then I felt heavy and dizzy, all of this hapened several times, in waves, before I fell back to sleep.

Since June 24 I have been out of work due to my mystery illness ***** I thought was going away till last night and today. All of this started with vertigo and depersonilization 24/7, then the vertigo turned to dizziness and then lightheadedness. I also have a full feeling in my ears, they feel poped. Whenever I have spells like the one last night I feel tired, spaced out with a bad headache in my neck and temples.

My first diagnosis was eustacian tube dysfunction. They put me on prednisone, zyrtec and nasonix, the nine days that I was on this medication I felt worse. My next diagnosis was anxiety so I was put on paxill, and even though I have had several attacks like the one last night my dizziness seems to be going away. I dont think the paxil has anything to do with that, I am still wondering,after 48 days, what good it is doing at all.

Im only 34, I have a wife and two kids that I love very much and I am scared that whatever is happening to me is going to kill me. I would also like to add that all of this started 2 days after stoping a drug called protonix and acephix for heartburn.

Will anxiety cause all of these problems and if it is anxiety why hasnt the paxil started to work. Have any of you ever had problems like this. Could the protonix have put me over the edge, I have heard that a side effect is deppresion and I have been deppresed and anxious since 12 years of age. Are there any ways to treat without these bad drugs.

well I can kinda relate to what you are going through.
I write on this board becuase my b/f suffers from depression,anxiety,social anxiety, and agrophobia.
He was been off of work for months with a mysterious illness then they said it was IBS and then found out when he was trying to go back to work he couldn't do to what I mentioned above. A lot of wierd things happen during his attacks He feels many different feeling of pain tingles cold and hot flashes etc. but never anything with his hearing (not to my knowlegde).
Have you seen a doctor for this?
You should ask about withdrawls from the medication you were taking.
My b/f is on paxil cr and they are going to have to up the dosage because it hasn't worked all that well.
(Small improvements) and he is on Ativan for the panic attacks. Paxil can actually cause panic attacks at first.
There are all sort of self help sites out there and therapy. Some peolpe can do it with out the drugs while others need it to get past the fear.

I had a very similar sleeping situation once, where I work up and felt tingly allover, then i felt my heart beat faster and faster, then my whole body just locked up on me and I remember thinking "god Im going to die" and at that point I just fell back to sleep, and can actually remember falling back to sleep.

I wouldve panicked about it the next day if it wasnt for something I saw on TV. There is a condition like it that some people experience when they have interrupted sleep sometimes. Its quite rare, but what happens is your brain wakes up, but your body doesnt if you get what I mean. And it happens partially, for a few seconds.

I've had similar feelings as you described.
I also have an anxiety/panic disorder and some agoraphobic behavior patterns.
I have migraine headaches, which can also cause very odd sensations.
Have a complete check-up by a Neurologist, so you'll feel more at ease.

your symptoms sound remarkably similar to mine...i awoke one morning with this strange pressure in my head...accompanied by confusion...i have lived in a depersonalized world ever since.

whats interesting is your physical symptoms--ear fullness and headache in temples...I have exactly the same probelm.
