Does this happen right as you start drifting off to sleep? I was on paxil cr 12.5 for 4 days in July, and on night 4 soon after falling asleep I woke with a start with my mind racing and feeling like my body was burning up. It was terrifying! I quit the paxil right away, but for weeks after this I was unable to fall asleep. I would be OK lying there but as soon as I started drifting off it felt like I was being electrocuted and would sit bolt upright wide awake again until I would calm down in 15-20 minutes. Then it would happen again and again. Even with 2 mg of xanax in me it would happen. Finally my doc gave me ambien which knocked me out. This lasted for almost a month and I really thought I was dying, somedays I wished I would. Anyway, in August I went on effexor...no really nasty side effects but not sure if it really helped as I am only recently feeling a little better. Maybe it is the working out and fish oil that I started in Sept.
About the paxil, my doc gave me 12.5 to start with for a week and then 25mg after that. I never took a 25. He said that 12.5 wasn't enough to do anything (good that is) Sure freaked me out though.
Hope you get some relief,
DT

every cuople of weeks it would do this. i am just so unhappy and have been for 6 damn months now.i wish i would just be like i used to. before all of this. i have no one in my life and all these things are happening to me. i have no money for therapy so im outta luck there. i have bills and my mom has been sent away for a year and my brother went to school and i never see him. i barely talk to him. my boyfriend bought a house and we are in the process of moving and all of this is just so scary to me. im alone all the time and the only comfort i have is my cat. work is stressful. i have this new position and i feel like i am being "crapped" on. i am just flat out miserable. i tried to tell my doctor the last time and he kinda shrugged it off. i told him that i kinda feel "dead" or something. that nothing around me felt real and he just gave me my meds and sent me on my lonesome way. is this ever gonna go away or am i one of the many that this plagues and have to "pop" pills to feel "alive" again. i just cant get it together. sorry this is sooooo long. but i am in dire need of help

Well if you havent read my posts about paxil and panic then Go back and read them.
I hate paxil cr. I am on 25 mgs. It doesnt seem to be helping me at all. I have a drs. apt tomorrow and I am going to get her to change it. I have been taking it for around 4 months. It makes me sweat constantly and It DOES NOT help my anxiety either. I was on lexapro and it was much better, it just seemed to loose effectivness after awhile. But I am definatley going to go to something else.
Everyone is different My Husband Took paxil for 2 yrs and did ok on it, but now he is on lexapro. He suffers from major panic attacks, But he hasnt had one since he started the lexapro..Which has been about 2 months!! He is so happy. He says he feels one starting and then its like it stops before it gets to the full blown attack... I dont know if this helps at all but I would definatley see a Dr. about those episodes you are having. It sounds like the beginings of panic attacks to me. But I am not a dr.

Sounds like you have life problems a pill won't solve. In fact, it could be causing some physical effects like you are describing and more. I don't know how to solve your life problems, but maybe you can figure some things out; it's a shame you can't get some therapy help. Perhaps start looking at the positive things that you do have in your life will help counter the negatives a little?

I'll probably get pummeled here by cat lovers, but I don't think your cat is much comfort....get a dog, a smaller one you can always have on your lap like a cat! Dogs constantly want their owners attention and love, where sometimes cats can be more independant and aloof. Why do you think dogs earned the title, "Man's Best Friend"? They got that for a reason! I've got two and they are so cute, attentive and loving; I can't imagine not having a dog in my life! Notice how Sharron Osborne always has a dog on her lap, not a cat.....the woman knows...

I've got my pom (like Sharron's Missy but gold color)right now on my lap and she is using her paw to get my attention so I've got to stop typing now...
