Hello... i've only seen a horrible OB/GYN but what he did tell me was that I have all the symptoms of PCOS. Originally he just put me on ortho tri cyclen cause i would skip months and months of periods....

that worked for a while until lately (i switched to ortho cyclen cause the tri-cyclen was making me tired) i've been on the pill for about 4 years

anyway, lately i've been spotting a lot when on the pill (not on the off week) and this weekend i started to get worried because i got really really bad cramps. The following day i specifically had pain only on the left side (left ovary??) I luckily (and for once i'm glad for a pap!) have an appt with a new gyno next week but i'm wondering if any of you have had any experience with this.

i'm 25 and i eventually want kids... and i'm so scared that i won't be able to and that something is really wrong with my reproductive system. any questions you guys think i should ask based on personal experience. i tend to clam up at the docs and forget to ask and express my concerns so any feedback is really appreciated. Thanks

Skummy, a lot of ob/gyn's will diagnose PCOS and then only offer you birth control pills. That only solves the problem of menstruation. That doesn't help to make you ovulate, and it doesn't help with PCOS's other symptoms like insulin resistance and hirsutism! I would suggest you look for a reproductive endocrinologist. Even if you're not looking to get pregnant right now, there are RE's that treat women with PCOS who aren't looking to get pregnant right now. There have been many advances with PCOS to include some herbal remedies. The Pill isn't the only way to go, and if it isn't helping, I would suggest you seek out a second opinion!

Hope that helps!
