It sounds like you are having breakthrough bleeding, or spotting. This can happen with some women, but it shouldn't last. It should also be a lot lighter than your regualr period. When you get to your inactive pills you should still have your regular period.
They say you should give a prescription 3 months for your body to adjust to so if you have breakthrough bleeding again next cycle and again after that, I would contact your dr and see about getting a different prescription. Personally, I would only wait 2 cycles, who needs to put up with that for three months...

I had more than break through bleeding while on the pill. I had my period for weeks at the time, sometimes almost all month. If it seems to be more than spotting, then it could be thin lining in your uterus.

How long have you been on the pill?

I didn't have this problem until around yr 3 of taking the pill. You may need something with more horomones in it.

I had to take estrogen pills to build mine back up and then they had to switch my pill, nothing would work more than a month or two, so i went on Ortho-Evra (patch). I have taken it for a year, and no probs so far.

You're experiencing break through bleeding, which is totally normal and to be expected. Keep taking your pills like normal. It may go away, or it may stick around like a normal period. Still take the green placebo pills, you may or may not have a period then. Most likely you will, it just might the lighter than normal. The break through bleeding should go away after the first month.
