Thank you all for the great info it has helped me so much. I am 23 and just found out I am hypo and I have what the doc called light pcos have no idea what that means. Me and hubby have tried to have a second child for three years. I have been to the doc countless times trying to find out why it was not happing. Last visit I demanded my hormone levels be checked. My TSH was 12.1 and my testosterone 108 ~ they are sending me all the results thru the mail. I started on synthroid 50mcg and my life has changed soooooo much. I have spent the last 10 years suffering from hypo symptoms but was told it was other things. I have BAD acne and have had it since the age of 12 my parents spent thousands of dollars on meds to treat it for it to not even get a little better. I had surgery at age 16 for ovarian cyst. I have been in counseling for depression for years. I would sit on the couch and cry because I would want to clean my home so bad but I barely had energy to get up to care for my baby. docs said I was depressed. AND NOW only two months on meds and I have lost 20 pounds(only 20 more to go), my face is healing, started college. and got a great job (full time) after four years on the couch I am back. amazing I never thought I could find happiness in so much work.. I am trying to gather all the info I can to understand Hypo better am also getting a different doc. I know this is just the begging of a long road to successful treatment I am just glad my journey has begun. I have not found any success stories having to do with hypo and fertility ..if anyone has one or if you know where I could find more info on it that would be great. I did order Mary’s book waiting for it. Thank you so much for the opportunity to read your experiences and share mine.

HI,
I am happy for you, that is so great.
Can't tell you a happy baby story though, I had a miscarriage, but, do not give up, it can and does happen, you just have to make sure you have your levels under control and then watch them very, and I mean very closely if you get pregnant, within a couple of weeks of getting pregnant you will want to get bloodwork done on your thyroid and then it will have to be done often throughout the pregnancy. I didn't know I was pregnant till I was 6 weeks, I figured I was late because of my thyroid problems and I have never been regular if you know what I mean, but my thyroid levels went way down and then shot way up, I miscarried at 8 weeks, so watch it closely and get a good doc and you should be fine.

Good luck to you. :)

Hi,
Yes I am sure it will happen. I wasnt hypo at the time but I do have lots of problems, blocked tubes due to infection from way back, endometriosis, etc... I was a mess. I had 2 laparoscopies to remove endo. Finally we had to resort to IVF because of this and I luckily got pregnant on my first one. It was very hard to believe because as the years went on my body just didnt feel right, endo cause scar tissue in my body and it was just a mess until my surgery to clear some of it away. I have an 11 year old girl from a previous marriage and when I remarried and the time came for us to start I just knew something wasnt quite right with me and my thoughts were right. Some women who get this condition have trouble conceiving. I luckily got pregnant. My body just felt like it was going against me in a way and I thought never in a million years would I ever get pregnant. With technology today, anything is possible and being your problem isnt too major, they should be able to get that in control enough for you to conceive.
