I have all the classic signs of Tmj .. poping and grinding when i open and close my mouth. swollen temperolmandibular muscles.. headaches every day.. pain when i touch my head in places.. tinnitus.. muffled sound in the ear with the join prob.. i can feel a gap in my bones on that side and feels like its pushing into my ear drum when i feel in my ear.
But something weird.. i get illusions in my vision.. tracer lines(when i move my hand in front of my face.. a slow moving outline follows.. and i get flashes of light and sometimes auras and colors.. i was wondering if anyone else with tmj is experiancing any vision problems

Tony,
So far I haven't had any trouble with my vision but I can relate to the rest of the signs. Not saying people don't have vision problems, I am just saying I don't have.

I get vision problems when I am in a lot of pain, have you ever notice when your vision is bad doe's your head hurt really bad? I have really bad pain behind my eyes it feels like a headache in my eyeballs.... I was told that tmj can cause migraine and tention type headaches..my vision gets blury and I see stuff, I never tried putting my hand in front of my face to see lines I think your vision problem is worse then mine...how often does it happen? Did you tell your doctor? and what did he say?

Well my vision things are pretty much constant even if i'm not in pain.. but i noticed my muscles are always swollen and tense.. maybe the bone and muscles are putting pressure on some nerve cutting off blood flow... yes i told the doctor about my visuals.. and he said."thats wierd lol".. i am going for brain wave tests friday.. maybe my vision things are something other than the tmj... i hope not tho lol.. my head does hurt alot tho from the tension i am guessing.. i get pains in my chest and back and shoulders and arms and tingling also

I get vision problems with my tmj, and especially after my surgeries. I was tested for a bunch of things and told that it is just migraines. He said that the swelling and additional pressure caused by my tmj problems is what triggers them. He said also if I have a bad cold, or ear infections, I may also get them. You may want to check on this

I have vision problems that I would say are very severe. It usually happens after I yawn. My jaw pops loudly, my hearing cuts out, and my eyesight becomes distorted. I can still see light and stuff, but nothing in my view is recognizable. It's as though someone has grabbed the sides of my head by my eyes and yanked back very hard.
