Hi Okie,

Sounds like you are still having the side effects of withdrawal. I would take hot baths and do some walking. The walking will help keep your muscles limber and it will also help to get your energy level up. Have you considered going to outpatient treatment? I learned so much about addiction and myself in treatment and I think it made a big difference in my being able to stay off the pills over five years now.

I experienced kinda the same thing. Im telling ya my body felt like I had just ran a marathon. I was sooo tired and fatigued. My muscles kinda ached like they do after working out real hard...you know how they feel the next day...that is how they felt. I just remember that it took some time. You just have to tell yourself that being realistic...it wont last forever, that with time it gets easier. We did not get ourselves into this situation overnight, and we cant expect to feel freat overnight. Stay strong and Good Luck

Good for you Okie, flushing the oxys. I know how tough that was. I am sorry to hear your husband is not being supportive. Maybe if you looked into it and found a part time outpatient program he would be more willing to help you. Unless youj take care of yourself you will never be able to truly take care of every one who needs and depends upon you. What about therapy? You could find someone who is experienced in working with addiction issues and finding an NA meeting where you could meet others who have been where you are would really help too. As for a doctor, there are addiction specialists/addictionologists. Call a local treatment center and ask for a referral.

I also experience a lot of pain in my back and legs when I'm in W/Ds. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif Exercise.....I know, I know, if you are like me, you didn't feel like moving off the couch, much less go to the gym but it really does help. Hot baths also helped as well as ibuprofen and L-tyrosene (you can get it at any GNC). The L-tyrosene also helped some with the nausea, etc. My sponsor is a doctor and I told him about it and he didn't have any idea how it helped but it did. Hang in there and stay connected to people in recovery...whether it be NA/AA meetings or just hanging out on these message boards, the best medicine is talking to others who have been thru the same thing.

p.s. I'm using my wife's username so if this seems a little different than what she usually writes that's the reason. I've been "lurking" around these type of boards for awhile and this is one of the best I've found so far. I really get a lot out of the people who share their recovery experiences. So, THANKS to all who share.

I know when I stopped taking pills before & stopped for a month. I had cravings every day until I finally gave in.(Currently trying to quit again) I tried a med from a detox dr. naltroxone (sp?) you take a pill every day, and it blocks you from getting high from any opiates and if you take pills and then take the other it makes you sooooooo sick, so it kind of deterred me for a while, because I knew I wouldn't get high. My brother in law actually has a pellet inserted in his side every 60 days that does the same thing, (he's a heroin user) and it doesn't allow him to get high.
I have those same voices in my head. You have so much to do and if you just took a pill it would be ok. Just hang in there, your almost there.
Going on vaca today and was planning on leaving the pills at him, can't leave them, I'm scared I'll be too sick and ruin our whole trip. Going to try to take the bare minimums and completely stop when I get back. My fiance will be home that whole week so I'll have some help around the house.

Okie, Tim hit it on the nose, I used to run marathons(as many as 5-7 per yr) and what you feel is how I felt after de-tox and after running those marathons. And yes for me at least it was nearly 3 weeks before I felt I had gotten fully de-toxed with the withdrawals finally receding. They always give rule of thumb as 3-7 days for withdrawal but I think it depends on the person and the situation and length of time on the drugs. 1st time I de-toxed I was on 40 mgs of hydro for like 4 months and the withdrawals lasted like 6 days (days 2-4 the worst) but the withdrawal was very mild compared to de-tox # 2 where I was on the 100mcg duragesic patch, and 60 mg of hydro per day. I was on that routine for like a year. Needless to say the withdrawal was absolutely a nightmare. I tapered for 2 months until I got down to about 25mg of hydro per day then went CT for the last bit. The withdrawal was very nasty for 5 days and then it was withdrawals for an additional 2+ weeks. TO be honest I really never felt quite right for at least 6 weeks, then it all started coming together.

When I got down to the last bit and it seemed like withdrawal was taking forever I kept reminding myself how much I had invested in this deal and how bad I wanted to resume my normal life. It got me through the worst. Hang in there the fight is about to turn your way and the withdrawals will subside totally and the cravings will lessen. Tim was very accurate, we did not get into this situation overnight nor can we expect this situation to be resolved overnight.

Your doing wonderful, hang in there and prepare for the good times!

Thank-you for replies Phil and GABBI....I do try to remind myself of that very thing.....some people say they dread the w/d's...well this being my 1st real detox from anything it scared the you know what outta me! I know its not reasonable to think that this will last forever and I think the hardest part is behind me physically its the constant cravings and marathons (hehehe) that I keep running! I am now going to the chiropractor(2x) so that may contribute to some soreness since I haven't been in over a year....my headaches are better already..I am so glad that people who have "been there done that" stick on board to help others!
GABBI- I would take them also, just in case,I know it sounds like "oh,tomorrow I'll do it....but vacation is a lil different!Have fun and keep us posted!

Okie, I pray this is your first and last de-tox. The cravings will lessen with time, time heals all.

Just stay with it!
