This may be a dumb question but its one I have been wondering about since I started taking vicodins 2 years ago. I have been clean for 1 week now and am feeling good. Did the vikes make any of you want to eat all the time, and did you gain weight? I have gained like 50 pounds in the last 2 years. I just seemed to always want to eat when I was taking them, so wondering if that was a side effect or something? Those of you going thru withdrawels, it does get better, you may not believe or what to hear that now, but they do get better.

Actually when i was using vikes I didn't eat much, I went from 175 down to 148 (I'm 6'2"). I think I was so buzzed up did not think of food plus I thought if my stomach was empty I would feel the effects of the pills much sooner and much stronger. When i got off the pills that’s when started to eat like a maniac. Went up to 185. Also when taking the vikes I was really into sweets, ice cream big time and chocolate. U scream I scream we all scream for Ice Cream. I had it 2 times a night LOL

Cinn..

I gained weight, because of a sedentary lifestyle -- but also I have this ritual - take "vicodin" first (on empty stomach) and followed up with lots of food. Somehow I thought the high was better that way ...and taking them definitely deterred me from wanting to get any exercise...

Vicodin, percocet, morphine - all made me "binge eat". I also (as said in another post above) had a sedentary lifestyle. Plus, when I DID eat, I would hog down a HUGE amount of food, then not eat for most of the day. I have alot of friends who used drugs just like me, and lost weight.

Look at Herman Goehring (German Air Forcer general from WWII). He was a morphine addict, and was HUGE by the end of the war. He brought his two private nurses and several hundred vials of morphine when he surrendered to the Allies. Of course, that DIDN'T fly, and by the time of the Nuremberg trials, he was skinny again...

P.S. cinnomore: I appreciate you reminding me that w/d's DO get better. It's not the folks with years clean that I feel I can be like right now, you know?

Thanks.
